So I like the idea of playing different music in each room through one system, but how does it work? Do I need a lot of wires? Do I need wireless speakers?
You can really go either way here. If you are rebuilding, remodeling, or custom building your house right now, you might as well use CYTEXONE wiring from the get-go. Otherwise, the wiring can be limited since it is possible to work with your existing technology and just add on. You wont have to tear down walls or anything. Most of the system can be controlled through a WiFi or Ethernet connection.

How can I use the CYTEXONE system to control my lights? Do I need to install special lights or can I control my existing lights
CYTEXONE does not have magical light bulbs. We do have some very smart light switches and dimmers though. You can keep your existing lights, and let us replace your current switches with ours. We also have wonderful dimmers and very fashionable keypads. They use a wireless technology called Zigbee to communicate with the system and each other. And even though all your lights will be on the same system, with Zigbee you never have to worry about the “Christmas Light Effect.” If one goes out, the rest keep working.

How does CYTEXONE control my temperature?
CYTEXONE has a very inconspicuous and easy to use thermostat that can replace the one you are using now. Obviously, this thermostat will be hooked into the system. There is a strong possibility that CYTEXONE can figure out a way to work with your existing thermostat, depending on what kind it is. Currently IR and RS232 are supported and IP will be available later.

How difficult is it to install the CYTEXONE system into existing homes?
If you tried to do it yourself, it would not be easy at all. But that’s where we come in. It is very easy for CYTEXONE to install your home automation system. So easy in fact, that the installation can take as little as two days. (We’re good at it.)

What music formats are supported?
You can take all of the CD’s that you already own and insert them into the media controller where they will be stored as MP3’s. You can store over 1,000 hours of music on CYTEXONE’S 80 gig hard drive. Besides your current music collection, you can browse online and move music into the Media Controller. Anything you are used to doing with MP3’s, you can continue doing with your CYTEXONE equipment. In the future, look forward to other formats as well.

Can I play music from outside sources, such as CD & MP3 players, etc?
This depends on the type of CD or MP3 player you own. CYTEXONE can support players from other manufacturers, as long as it is controlled via RS232, IR, or IP. If you don’t know what this means, don’t worry. We’ll tell you if it is compatible or not. More often than not, it is totally possible.

How do I know if the CYTEXONE system will work with my current equipment?
There is a very good chance CYTEXONE can work with most of your current technology. If your current equipment is controlled via RS232, IR, relay, contact or IP, we probably already have the driver written to control it. What is a driver for? A driver allows your current equipment to communicate with the CYTEXONE system. Our database of drivers is growing like a weed. If we don’t have what you need immediately, it can be written promptly through a request to Technical Support.
